Quick Emo / Goth Makeover

Whether you’re just trying to see how you’d look in a different style, or you’re messing with a friend (or enemy’s) picture for laughs, changing someone from a “normal” look to a “goth” look is both fun and easy.

In this Photoshop tutorial, I will step you through some easy techniques that will allow you to quickly and easily recreate this effect on your own photographs.

We’ll start with her eyes, and create a new layer. We’ll set the opacity of this layer 85% and use a black brush to color in around her eyes. Once we’ve got it how we want it, we’ll use Filter > Blur > Box Blur with the Radius set to 20px to smooth out the “makeup”:

Moving on, let’s create another new layer. This time, let’s choose a white brush with the opacity of the brush set to 7%. We’ll paint over her entire face to give it a more pale complexion:

Let’s create another new layer for her lips. We’ll repeat the process that we did with the eyes.

For her hair, create a new layer and set the Blending Mode to overlay. I’m going to use pink:
