Create a pop art effect on a picture. I’m going to show you 2 different methods on 2 different pictures.
I have made a guess at which of the two tutorials you want to see first. Hope I guessed right. If I didn’t, the one of the building is coming up real soon so be patient!
Get a picture to use for this tutorial… you can see the one I’m using below.
Now that you’ve opened your picture, go to Layer >> Duplicate Layer.
On the bottom right of photoshop you will see two layers. Select the bottom one and change the opacity to 0%. You can see how this is done in the picture below.
Now go to Image >> Adjustments >> Threshold. Once the screen has come up pick one side of the image and look at it, now move the scroll until it looks good.
Once again select the top layer and change the opacity to 50%. Then go to Image >> Adjustments >> Threshold and fix the other side, you should get something like this.
Now you’ve got the shape your happy with merge the layers by pressing ctrl + e. You can use the paint bucket to change the colour of the background.

Now for the second method…
You can change your photographs into a pop art piece in a matter of seconds. Most pop art pieces consists of high saturated neon colors. Here is how you create such effect on photoshop:
Hold down CTRL + U. A Hue/Saturation screen should pop up. Change the saturation to 100:
Now that you’ve added the neon colors to your photograph, you need to add an effect that will make your photogrpahs look like a painting. Press: Filter > Brush Strokes… > Cross Hatch. Change your settings to the same one found below:
This is the end result:
