In this tutorial, we will learn to add stitches to any image of your choice.

Open your image.

Create a new layer by pressing shift+control+n. Use 20 feather brush and draw a line of #B17574 color. Change its blending mode from normal to darken.

Create another layer. Draw this curved line either with brush tool or with pen tool. Use #79393A color for that.

Create another layer and draw these random stitch lines with 2 pixel wide brush tool.

Apply bevel and emboss effect as shown on the stitch lines.

Image after applying above effect.

I have used the same technique to draw stiches at the left side of the face.

For this tutorial I will show you a quick, easy and effective method for watermarking your images. Any beginner should be able to finish this tutorial in under one minute. No plug-ins are required.

The first step we must take is to open a new document (file > New). I’ll be using a 60px X 60px document with a transparent background. You don’t need to give this document a name.

Once your document is open go to the layers pallet and add a new layer.

Once you have your document open zoom a little (you don’t need to do this but I feel it makes it easier to see what you are doing). Now grab the type tool from your tool box. Next click somewhere on your document and type something, I suggest the word “copyright”. (don’t worry about the position of what you typed, we’ll fix this in a moment). For my font I’ve used size 14 “verdana” in a black color.

You should have something similar to mine:

Next we must reposition and rotate our text. To do this we will be using the free transform tool (edit > free transform). Reposition your text so that it looks similar to mine:

I have also resized my text so that it fits better. Once you are happy with the position and size of your text click on the background layer.

Now that we have finished with our text we must define it as a pattern. This is done by going to edit > define pattern. A little popup should appear asking you what you wish to call your pattern. You can name it as you wish but I suggest calling it “Copyright”

Click ok and then close your document, you do not need to save it.

Open up the document that you wish to watermark (file > Open).

Double click on your layer and add a “pattern overlay”, click the drop down arrow and select the pattern we just created.

Play around with the settings until you get your desired result then press ok. I’ve used the default settings except changed the opacity to 50%.

Here is my finished result:

Congratulations your done! Now you know the basics of creating watermarks why not try and see what else you can do. Here is another result you can make just as quickly:

Thanks for reading the tutorial and I hope you enjoyed it.

This tutorial will show you how to give a photo a “painting look” and how to put a frame round it. Ideal for making a gift of a family photo.

Import your photograph into photoshop:

On top: click Filter > Artistic > Paint Daubs… Change your brush size to: 2 ; Sharpness to: 9 ; Brush Type: Simple.

Create a new layer below your photo layer. Click Image > Canvas Size: add 100 more pixel to your width and height.

Go back to your photograph layer. Click Layer > Layer Style > Inner Shadow.

Here are the properties for this layer style:
Blend Mode: Multiply (black)
Opacity: 50%
Angle: 30 Degrees (Use Global Light)
Distance: 5 PX
Choke: 0%
Size: 5 PX

Click on your white layer below the photograph. Click Layer > Layer Styles > Pattern Overlay. Choose a pattern that would suit your photograph. (I would suggest using the rock patterns).

Now your image is complete. You can now send them to your friends as e-cards or print them out as gifts! Be creative and experiment using different layer styles on your white layer.

The proper term for the newspaper photograph effect is half tone. The traditional halftone process converts different tones into dots of varying size. The eye has limited resolving power and, at a distance, is tricked into seeing these dots as continuous tone.

This effect is extremely easy to re-create in photoshop.

Click on Image > Mode > Grayscale. A screen will pop up asking if you’d like to discard your color information. Click yes.

Click on Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone. change your settings to:

Here is a view of your completed photograph which is I admit isn’t great! The reason for this is not so much the tutorial method but instead the low resolution starting image. For this method to work well you need a high res image to start with. So bearing this in mind you should get better results when you try it out yourself. (I intend to update this tutorial in the future to show a better example):

Create a pop art effect on a picture. I’m going to show you 2 different methods on 2 different pictures.

I have made a guess at which of the two tutorials you want to see first. Hope I guessed right. If I didn’t, the one of the building is coming up real soon so be patient!

Get a picture to use for this tutorial… you can see the one I’m using below.

Now that you’ve opened your picture, go to Layer >> Duplicate Layer.

On the bottom right of photoshop you will see two layers. Select the bottom one and change the opacity to 0%. You can see how this is done in the picture below.

Now go to Image >> Adjustments >> Threshold. Once the screen has come up pick one side of the image and look at it, now move the scroll until it looks good.

Once again select the top layer and change the opacity to 50%. Then go to Image >> Adjustments >> Threshold and fix the other side, you should get something like this.

Now you’ve got the shape your happy with merge the layers by pressing ctrl + e. You can use the paint bucket to change the colour of the background.

My final result!

Now for the second method…

You can change your photographs into a pop art piece in a matter of seconds. Most pop art pieces consists of high saturated neon colors. Here is how you create such effect on photoshop:

Hold down CTRL + U. A Hue/Saturation screen should pop up. Change the saturation to 100:

Now that you’ve added the neon colors to your photograph, you need to add an effect that will make your photogrpahs look like a painting. Press: Filter > Brush Strokes… > Cross Hatch. Change your settings to the same one found below:

This is the end result:

Whether you’re just trying to see how you’d look in a different style, or you’re messing with a friend (or enemy’s) picture for laughs, changing someone from a “normal” look to a “goth” look is both fun and easy.

In this Photoshop tutorial, I will step you through some easy techniques that will allow you to quickly and easily recreate this effect on your own photographs.

If you want some background on emo photoshop stuff jump to the Useful Tips Section at the end of the Tutorial or continue on this page with the tutorial itself.

We’ll start with her eyes, and create a new layer. We’ll set the opacity of this layer 85% and use a black brush to color in around her eyes. Once we’ve got it how we want it, we’ll use Filter > Blur > Box Blur with the Radius set to 20px to smooth out the “makeup”:

Moving on, let’s create another new layer. This time, let’s choose a white brush with the opacity of the brush set to 7%. We’ll paint over her entire face to give it a more pale complexion:

Let’s create another new layer for her lips. We’ll repeat the process that we did with the eyes.

For her hair, create a new layer and set the Blending Mode to overlay. I’m going to use pink:

Here’s the final image of her all goth’d out:

That’s where image editing takes over. In this tutorial, we will teach you how to place emphasis on certain objects to make them stand out vividly. This includes adding brightness/contrast to certain colours on the focal point, adding obvious factors to improve your visualization to your audience, and other techniques, natural or artificial.

1.First we will start with the basics. You need to first pull out the focal point of the piece/picture/artwork. This is important so that we can work explicitly on the focal item that we are adding emphasis to.

2.Using the picture provided as an example, we will begin. Start by selecting the Magnetic Lasso Tool & and wrapping the item that we want to place emphasis on. For the sake of this tutorial, I will be pulling the most obvious thing on this image; the breakdancer.

3.One the item is selected, Copy & Paste the person in the picture, creating a new layer. Now we have a person to work with. When the person is pasted, it should appear as if the person is still in the same position in the image.

4.Now it is time for us to place emphasis on this object to make it stand out. We can do a number of things now that our focal point is separated from the rest of the image. First I will do some basic lighting techniques to begin to separate the person from the rest of the image. I plan on making the focal point on this image stand out as if he were gleaming. We will achieve this by first selecting Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast, setting the Brightness ~8 & Contrast ~25. These are my settings however, you can make these settings whatever you like as long as you get the brightness you want. NOTE: this is all done on the copied layer.

5.Now we will go into layer styles and apply a glow to the border of the breakdancer to make him obviously standout from the crowd. You can get to this area by double-clicking the copied layer or clicking the “f” at the bottom of the layers tab. We select “Outer Glow” and use the settings below. As said before, you can use the any type of setting you’d like but for this image, I chose these settings because they seemed to fit the breakdancer’s skin better.

6.Now create anew layer as we are going to apply some gradients in order to lead the background out slowly. Make sure these layers go between the copied layer and the original image. Now, once done, apply a black gradient to the bottom and set the layer’s opacity to 12%. This will give the background a subtle darkness, further adding to the emphasis effect.

7.Again, create a new layer, right above the last gradient layer, and apply another gradient, this time from the light perspective. We are going to try to add more emphasis to the breakdancer, making him stand out with obviousness. This time, I used a more yellow-ish color to further push the breakdancer out, seperating him from the rest of the crowd.

8.From this, you can add, fire to his legs, or any other type of special item to place emphasis on the breakdancer. With so many possibilities, it’s hard to say what you’re actually limited to doing. This is particularly good for video editing.

Hello, In this tutorial I am going to show you how to create a whooshing sky effect on your photography. This can also be used to create a motion blur effect, to show speed down a long straight road or path. Everything in this tutorial can be done using any recent version of Adobe Photoshop. Including Elements, which I will be using for this tutorial.

This technique can create very dramatic effects that can improve a photo a lot.

Step 1:
Open up your image in photoshop.

Step 2:
Use the rectangular selection tool to select your skyline. If your skyline isn’t straight, use the Polygonal Lasso tool.

Here, I have deselected the small buildings on the skyline. I do this by holding ALT and then drawing a box around the area I want to de-select. I have also highlighted the area in red so you can see what I have selected.

Step 3:
Once you’ve got your sky selected, go to Filter>Blur>Radial Blur

Set the Blur Method to “Zoom”, then your ready to start testing the Amount.

Now’s the tricky part, you need to look at your picture and decide where you want the zoom to center. Its no good having your picture zooming into the top right hand corner, it’ll look wrong. So try to pick the spot where a lead-in ends, such as a long road or a path. Here, I’ve used a long walkway and positioned my zoom center at the end.

Important note: If your skyline isn’t at the bottom of your photo, you will need to treat the positioning box as your selection. So If you place the zoom center at the bottom of the box, the zoom will go level with your skyline.

Put the quality to Medium or Low and experiment with the Amount of zoom applied. The reason your using lower quality, is its faster. If you go straight for best, it can sometimes take a couple of minutes to work it out. So it can be frustrating when you’ve been sat watching nothing for 2 minutes only to find out your picture is a frantic blur of nothing.

Once you’ve got your Amount right, set the quality to Best and let it work. I usually use around 40-60 Zoom, so try around those figures.

If you are totally happy with your settings, click OK and wait for it to load.

Finished!

In this tutorial you will make a picture look like a real-life brush painted canvas. Here is our final result:

Step 1

You will start with any picture that you want to transform, I picked this one:

Now open the image in Photoshop.

Step 2

Go to Filter -> Brush Strokes -> Crosshatch and put the following settings:

Note: You can play around with these settings to your preference.

Then press OK and you should have something like this:

It’s as easy as that, 2 steps can give you a really nice paint effect. Here are other examples I made using the same effect:

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial even though it was very short. Thanks and I hope you come back. Here is the PSD.
