In this tutorial you will make a picture look like a real-life brush painted canvas. Here is our final result:

Step 1

You will start with any picture that you want to transform, I picked this one:

Now open the image in Photoshop.

Step 2

Go to Filter -> Brush Strokes -> Crosshatch and put the following settings:

Note: You can play around with these settings to your preference.

Then press OK and you should have something like this:

It’s as easy as that, 2 steps can give you a really nice paint effect. Here are other examples I made using the same effect:
