This tutorial will show you how to create some colorful plastic looking flowers using mostly layer style effects in photoshop

Create a new 200 x 200 canvas. Using your custom shapes tool, select the flower shape

Double click on that layer. The layer styles screen should pop up, if not go to layer > layer styles > drop shadow. Fill in the following properties to your bevel & drop shadow layer styles:

This is what you should have so far:

Now, open your layer style window again and fill add in a gradient:

Double click on your gradient preview (between where it says ‘Gradient:’ nd ‘Reverse’)

A screen like this should pop up:

Now, the tricky part is to add in several different colors into your custom gradient style. See where the blue line is? (This is not on your window, its just to show you where you should click), press that area, a small square should appear with a new color. Double click on that square, then select a color. It does not matter where or how many squares you place in your gradient, be creative and experiment. However, if you do not have an idea where you should click, just look at the screenshot above and click where I have placed my colored squares.

Fill in the squares with a color: Here are the colors that I have used: FF0000, FFF000, FF00FC and FF0060.

Here’s a tip: When placing new colors beside each other, try using colors that have a strong contrast, such as yellow and red, then pink and yellow.

Here is how the end result should look like:
